Wheatgrass in a pot outside

All About Wheat Grass

Today we went to the Lincoln Park Green City Market here in Chicago, and we came across Tiny Greens, a central Illinois farm specializing in growing organic sprouts and micro-greens, including the wildly popular wheat grass. At their farmer’s market booth we sampled their offerings with a fresh squeezed shot of wheat grass juice.

It may be hard to swallow, but wheat grass juice contains a remarkable amount of nutrients: a whopping 103 vitamins, minerals and amino acids! The Tiny Greens employee we met explained that one ounce of wheat grass juice has the benefits of roughly 2 pounds of regular leafy greens.

Though wheat grass is often described as tasting bitter, we were pleasantly surprised at how sweet our shots were –plus, the benefits of the juice makes it totally worth it!
